POCO (Separated from Xiaomi in 2020 to become a fully independent brand) has just launched the POCO M3 smartphone in India on 2nd February, 2021) with an affordable starting price of Rs. 10,999.
Poco M3 comes just after M2 and is a budget-oriented smartphone which includes features like a massive 6000 mAh battery, Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 Chipset and comes in the variants 6/64 GB & 6/128GB.
Poco M3 features 6.53 inches Full HD+ Display with screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 Pixels with 60 Hz refresh rate and 19.5:9 aspect ratio (~395 ppi). The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Over the display Poco will be putting their regular screen guard and the phone will come with a plastic back cover.
Inside the phone, you have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 Octa Core processor with clock speed of 2 GHz. The phone will provide 6GB LPDDR4X RAM. The internal storage provided is either 64 GB UFS 2.1 storage or 128 GB UFS 2.2 storage expandable up to 512 GB. Poco has made 6 GB RAM variant standard in India, so we would not be getting the 4 GB RAM version which is sold globally.
When we talk about, camera features, POCO M3 features a triple rear camera setup and a single front camera with only rear flash. On the back, the phone has a main 48 MP, f/1.8 Primary Camera Sensor with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). Alongside the main camera, the phone has a 2 MP f/2.4 Macro Sensor and a 2 MP f/2.4 Depth Sensor. On the front is an 8 MP f/2.1 Camera. The Rear camera is capable of recording up to 1080p videos at 30fps and slo-mo videos at 120fps. Front camera is also capable of recording up to 1080p videos at 30fps.
The battery that is inside the phone is a massive 6000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The 18W fast charger comes in the box. This phone also supports reverse charging at 18W of charging speed with the correct cable (Whereas the product page says it can do up to only 2.5W wired reverse charging).
The phone also features Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Dual VoLTE and Dual VoWiFi support for both sim cards simultaneously. Also, the phone comes with a dedicated memory card slot, so people don’t have to think if they should have 2 sim cards or a sim card and a memory card. POCO M3 does not supports 5G connectivity.
The phone comes with a side mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock option. Apart from these, other specifications include an Infrared (IR) Blaster, USB Type-C port, dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone will come with Android 10 and MIUI 12 out of the box.
POCO M3 will be available in three colours – Cool Blue, Power Black and POCO yellow. The phones price will be Rs. 10,999 for the 6GB/64GB variant and Rs. 11,999 for the 6GB, 128GB variant.
Even though, POCO has been separated to be an individual brand, we will still be seeing Xiaomi branding over the box and charger.
POCO will host the first sale of the phone on 9th February, 2021 at 12 in the afternoon. Also, they will be adding a discount of Rs. 1,000 for ICICI Bank Credit/Debit Card holders.
